To resolve the issue "HDCP Unauthorized. Content Disabled" on your Roku, follow the steps below.
Issue
If a purple screen appears on your TV showing "HDCP Unauthorized. Content Disabled", it's usually caused by a loose HDMI connector, or is caused by a problematic HDMI cable.
Resolution
To resolve this issue, please give the steps below a try:
- On both the Roku and your TV, unplug the HDMI cable.
- Switch off and unplug the TV and Roku for about 30 seconds.
- Next, reconnect the HDMI cable to your TV and Roku. Please ensure that you push them in firmly, all the way in.
- Plug in and power up the TV and Roku.
- Try the video or app again.
Should the problem persist, please try a different HDMI cable. This is to ensure that the cable you're using is not defective, and if it is, you can simply swap the cable with a new one.
Note: If this happens to be the first time you see the HDCP purple screen after setting up your Roku, it could be that your TV may not support HDCP over HDMI. In most cases, this is true for older TV models that adopt early HDMI protocols that do not implement current standards. For further information on the capabilities of your TV, please try looking through the user manual or contacting your TV manufacturer.
