Unlike devices such as the Apple TV 4, Roku and Amazon FireTV, the Apple TV 3 will only have apps added at the discretion of Apple. You cannot manually add new apps.
Unless Apple adds them to the Apple TV 3, you won't find apps such as BBC iPlayer and Amazon Video, among many others.
Once Apple does add a new app however, expect it to automatically appear on your Apple TV 3 menu without any additional configuration whatsoever.
If you find that an app was available before but suddenly disappeared from the Apple TV 3 menu, it could be that the Apple TV 3 region was changed by mistake.
To confirm the region of your Apple TV, please follow the steps below:
1. Go to Settings
2. General
3. iTunes Store
4. Location
Once you see Location, please confirm that it is in the country of your choosing (ie. UK, if you want to access UK based apps)
If you're still having issues with the Apple TV, please feel free to get in contact with our technical support team at support@my-private-network.co.uk for additional assistance.
