This page will guide you through to set up our Smart DNS service, MyTelly on an Amazon FireTV.


Step 1: Check the MyTelly settings on website


Using another device, preferably a computer, login to our website, www.my-private-network.co.uk using a web browser and you should be redirected to the My Subscription page.

 

Select the MyTelly tab on the left hand corner of the screen and click on Setup.



Take note of the fastest DNS servers address that appears on screen.


Step 2: MyTelly Configuration on FireTV


From your Amazon Fire TV homescreen, navigate to Settings.

Head over to Device > About and select Network.

Take note of the IP Address and Gateway details as you will need this shortly when setting up the connection.


Head back to the Settings page and select Network.

Select Configure Network if you are on a Wired connection or select your Wi-Fi network if you are connected wirelessly.

Note: The instructions below were based on a connection to a Wireless network, if you are on a Wired connection, please skip the wireless instructions.

Shown in the following screen is a list of Wifi networks detected by the Fire TV.

If your Wifi network does not show up on this screen, please select See All Networks.

Forget the Settings of the Wireless network by pressing the Option button (3 lines) that can be found on your remote.

Select your Wi-Fi network again and once you've entered your password, click on Advanced.

Important: The greyed out details that appears are only an example, you will need to key in the details manually based on the network you are connected to.


The device network details that we need are the IP Address and Gateway that you note down earlier from the About page.


Once you've confirmed the details, enter them into the appropriate fields as such:


IP address: Your device IP address

Gateway: Your network default gateway ( router IP address )

Network Prefix length: 24

For DNS 1 and DNS 2: Enter the fastest MyTelly address that appeared on the browser earlier.

Please refer to the screenshots below for examples on entering the IP addresses into your device:

:Just to reiterate, the d
etails above are just an example on our device, this will be different for your devices, please take a note of them first before editing.

Tap Connect to save the changes.


Step 3: MyTelly IP Registration on Network (Completion)


Head back to the MyTelly - Setup page on the web browser of your computer / other device. 


Scroll down and click on Register This Address.

This will register your IP address and also test your DNS setup and indicate whether you have changed the DNS settings correctly.

Please note that if you only changed the DNS settings on your device and not on your computer / other device, the authentication page will return the following error:

Please do not worry about this message as our servers have already registered your IP address as per the screenshot above.

Note: You will not have to do it again unless your IP address changes. Also, any device on the same network will be able to use the service as long as you've set our DNS in their settings.
